Stamp

About the Stamp
Wallenberg stamp features the 1944 passport photo of this celebrated hero, and shows a number of elements related to his efforts in Budapest, including Hungarian Jews rescued from deportation.

The stamp highlights Wallenberg’s place as Canada’s first honorary citizen as well as the lifesaving achievements that earned him that distinction. Wallenberg became Canada’s first honorary citizen in 1985, and January 17th, the day of his disappearance, was designated as Raoul Wallenberg Day. The stamp includes images from the Schutz-Pass, a protective pass featuring the symbols and colours of Sweden, which he handed out to people in the Jewish community.
Issue date: January 17, 2013
