Buenos Aires, May 10th, 2006
Mr. President of Russia
Dr. V. PutinDear Sir,
I am pleased to address you in my capacity of President of the Culture Commission of the Congress of Buenos Aires. I would like to asky you forr information regarding the whereabouts of the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg. As of today, we know that he was arrested by the Soviet Army on January 17th, 1945, after risking his life in order to save approximately one hundred thousand Jews from a certain death in Budapest, Hungary, during 1944 and 1945.
He was declared dead by the Soviet Government two years after his incarceration as a result of a heart attack. Nevertheless, there are people who declare that they have seen him alive during the 70’s and 80’s. Therefore we consider that you, as the President of Russia, can help us to shed light on this matter by providing information about Wallenberg’s whereabouts.
We should not forget that Raoul Wallenberg was a role model. His message has been spreaded all around the world because it is a role model in the promotion of peace among nations and in the development of educative projects based on the ideals of solidarity, dialogue and understanding.
Thanks a lot for your good predisposition and cooperation.
Sincerely yours,
Norberto La Porta
Buenos Aires City Congressman
