Rep. Tom Lantos is right in criticizing certain UN members, who wish to destroy the State of Israel. The UN should be praised for creating a Holocaust Memorial Day but it should be urged to repudiate those who encourage hatred. Lantos – a long standing member of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation – was saved by Wallenberg and he never forgot his debt to his savior. The UN should develop educational programmes aimed at keeping alive the memories of these heroes, who risked their lives to save the persecuted.
