A new memorial plaque was affixed in Ulloi Street 2-4, Budapest
The site was Raoul Wallenberg’s headquarter from November 1944 till January 1945
This is an initiative of the Raoul Wallenberg Association a sister organization of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation
Speeches were delivered by Dr. Jozsef Sebes, President of the Raoul Wallenberg Hungarian Association, HE Mr. Dag Hartelius, Ambassador of Sweden and by Dr. Gabor Eross, Deputy-Mayor of the 8th District of the Hungarian capital.
The mother of the latter speaker, a Holocaust survivor saved by Wallenberg, was also present.
The plaque was financed by the Raoul Wallenberg Hungarian Association and by Ms. Kate Wacz, herself saved by the Swedish diplomat.
Her letter was read aloud by Dr. Ferenc Orosz, executive of the Wallenberg Association.
The chairman of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, Mr. Eduardo Eurnekian, and its founder, Mr. Baruch Tenembaum, praised the initiative of the sister organization, stating that Wallenberg’s legacy stays alive thanks to these acts of remembrance.
