Beate Klarsfeld visited the Shoah Memorial Mural in Berlin

Beate Auguste Künzel Klarsfeld is famous for hunting Nazi war criminals. Along with her husband, Serge Klarsfeld, Beate has also denounced major Nazi political activism and European officials.
On November 1, 2010, Ms. Klarsfeld visited the Shoah Memorial Mural installed inside the Evangelische Vaterunser Kirche in Berlin. Her host was Pastor Annemarie Werner, the head of the congregation.

Wallenberg survivors at the Wallenberg Musical

On Sunday, November 14, 2010, a delegation of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation (IRWF) attended a performance of the Wallenberg Musical. Currently in its world premiere production at the White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC), “Wallenberg” has already won the acclaim of multiple critics and the general public since its first public reading in 2005.
Sunday had been long awaited for all of us at the foundation as the IRWF since the IRWF has been supporting the musical and acting as an associate producer since the early days of production. It was our wish to share this joyful occasion with our guests, among them many Holocaust Survivors who were rescued by Wallenberg.

Honoring Hungarian rescuers in Budapest

On November 11, 2010 the Ambassador of Israel in Budapest, Ms. Aliza Bin-Noun and the Minister of Interior of Hungary, Mr. Sandor Pinter, thanked seventeen Hungarians and their families for rescuing Jewish victims during the Holocaust, and awarded them the esteemed Yad Vashem “Righteous among Nations” honorary medal. Among those receiving the honoring was Karolna Reszelli, who together with her mother Zsuzsanna saved the lives of Steve Colman and his mother. The IRWF honored the Reszelis in 2008 and at the same time, [the IRWF] presented to Yad Vashem a dossier with a full research and a strong recommendation to have both women declared Righteous.

Ben Olander in New York

Ben Olander, a musician, lecturer, and actor from Sweden had a performance of his educational program dedicated to Raoul Wallenberg at the Swedish Church in Manhattan on November 9, 2010. With songs, beautiful images, and pathos filled storytelling Olander’s program confronts evil using Raoul Wallenberg’s deed as the starting point.
The IRWF has been supporting Mr. Olander’s work for the last five years and is always glad to help him with scheduling shows in New York.

Wallenberg Essay Contest Winners Announced

Together with the White Plains Performing Arts Center, the IRWF has organized an essay contest throughout New York and New Jersey Middle and High Schools in which students were asked to write about their heroes. More then 200 entries were received and the winners in each category were offered a prize of $500 sponsored by the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation. The winners are Sydney Monroe (Middle School) and Sean Haughey (High School). Congratulations!
