Eduardo Eurnekian Meets Robert Morgenthau
On January 9, 2014, Eduardo Eurnekian, the President of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation had a meeting with Robert Morgenthau. Mr. Morgenthau was the Manhattan district attorney from 1975 to 2009, and is a descendant of one of the most politically influential families during the administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt. The purpose of the visit was to express the Wallenberg Foundation gratitude for the humanitarian role played by the Morgenthau family caring for the Armenians, Jews and Gypsies persecuted minorities during the World War I and World War II.

Wallenberg Family Appeals to President Vladimir Putin
The family of Holocaust hero Raoul Wallenberg hopes to appeal directly to Russian President Vladimir Putin this week for help in throwing light on the Swedish diplomat’s mysterious fate. Wallenberg’s niece Louise von Dardel will travel to Brussels on Monday, carrying a letter addressed to Putin calling for access to key documentation believed to still exist in Russian archives.

Abandoned in the Battlefield, Perfil Magazine, Argentina
This January 17th marked the 69th anniversary of the disappearance of Raoul Wallenberg. To commemorate the occasion an article by Baruch Tenembaum and Eduardo Eurnekian was published in the Perfil magazine. On January 17, 1945, Raoul Wallenberg was traveling from Budapest to Debrecen to meet the Soviet commander, Marshal Malinovsky. He was with his personal driver Vilmos Langfelder. The agenda was to discuss the future of the Jewish survivors in Hungary. Instead, Wallenberg and Langfelder were arrested under the excuse of “protective custody” and the world has not heard about them ever since.

Raoul Wallenberg, the Hero Without a Grave, Clarin, Argentina
Another OP ED article by Baruch Tenembaum and Eduardo Eurnekian in regards to the 69th anniversary of Wallenberg’s disappearance was published on Clarin, one of the most popular newspapers in Argentina. The leadership of the IRWF affirms that “the battle is difficult, but must be fought, day by day, and we cannot give up. We hope that Sweden will not abandon his son like a soldier in a battlefield and that Russia will open its heart and its files”.

Ban Ki-moon’s Letter to the IRWF
The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon communicated to the IRWF leadership his thoughts on his recent visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau. “I visited the camp as part of my efforts to ensure that the world never forgets the Holocaust, and was deeply moved by what I saw and learned, including from the first-hand account of the survivors who accompanied me,” says Ban Ki Moon in a letter addressed to Baruch Tenembaum and Eduardo Eurnekian the IRWF’s founder and chairman.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the United Nations
Representatives of the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation attended the annual Holocaust memorial ceremony on January 27th at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. The International Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust established in 2006 had “Travels in the Holocaust” as this year’s theme. The ceremony started with a video message from the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon regarding the Holocaust and his recent visit to the Buchenwald Camp. Among the speakers were John W. Ashe, President of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly; Ron Prosor Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN; Samantha Power, Permanent Representative of the US to the United Nations; and Rena Finder, Holocaust survivor saved by Shindler. The key note speaker was Steven Spielberg, film maker and founder of the Shoah Foundation.

Wallenberg is Remembered in Melbourne
The Raoul Wallenberg Unit of B’nai B’rith, together with the City of Port Phillip, held the annual Raoul Wallenberg Commemoration marking January 17th, the day on which 69 years ago Wallenberg was taken into captivity never to be seen again. The Hon Michael Danby MP was the guest speaker. Other speakers included the Mayor of the City of Port Phillip, Amanda Stevens; Emeritus Professor Louis Waller AO; Raoul Wallenberg Unit co-president Margaret Heselev; and organizer of the event and MC Phil Symons.
