Historical interfaith ceremony at the Cathedral of Buenos Aires
On February 28th, 2014, the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation and the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires organized an interfaith ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires in the memory of Cardinal Antonio Quarracino (1923-1998) on the anniversary of his death.
The ceremony took place in front of the Memorial Mural to the Victims of the Holocaust, instated by Quarracino in 1997, following an initiative of Baruch Tenenbaum, IRWF founder. Quarracino was remembered for his work in fostering inter-religious dialogue.

Centennial Medal to Raoul Wallenberg José Manuel Barroso
On March 4th, 2014, José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, received the Raoul Wallenberg Centennial Medal. The medal was presented by Eduardo Eurnekian, President of the Wallenberg Foundation, in the presence of the founder, Baruch Tenenbaum. Louise von Dardel, Raoul Wallenberg’s niece attended the ceremony.
“Raoul Wallenberg is a true hero and an example for all of us,’’ said Barroso, later also referencing his compatriot, Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the former Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux who saved 30,000 lives during WWII, among them 10,000 Jews, by issuing visas for safe passage to Portugal.
